Trillium Dance Ensemble – Cast Bios

Ada Bavin

Ada was born and raised in Humboldt County, and has been dancing with Trillium since 2007. Growing up, she spent many summers training with companies like Joffrey Ballet School, Walnut Creek’s Diablo Ballet, and Millennium Dance Complex, where she was able to work with many established choreographers in a wide variety of styles. She began teaching at Trillium in 2018, and since then has had the honor of choreographing multiple upper-level pieces for both their winter and spring performances. Ada feels so lucky to continue doing what she loves while sharing her passion for dance with the students of Trillium!

Gabriela started dancing at Trillium when she was three years old after growing up watching her older sister dance. She always looked up to her sister and wanted to be just like her, but she quickly discovered a love for dance that was entirely her own. Dance has become a place where she feels the most confident and free to express herself, and when she performs, she hopes the audience can feel the same emotions she feels while dancing. After graduation, Gabriela plans to attend California State University, Chico to study Business w/ an emphasis on Project Management.

Allie Herman

Allie, a San Diego native began dancing at the age of six where she found her love of music, movement and friendship! Growing up she danced and assisted at Carlsbad Dance Centre and Carlsbad High School; where she studied several forms of dance including ballet, jazz, modern and hiphop. Allie studied Communication and Dance at Humboldt State University where she refined her technique and studied other world dance styles. Allie has had the opportunity to learn from artists such as Pilabolous, Mark Morris, Trey McIntire and Lines Ballet, among others. In 2011 she joined the teaching staff at Trillium Dance Studios and the only thing she loves more than dance is our Trillium Family!

Ahava Lewin

Ahava has been dancing since she was three years old. Originally from Oklahoma, she began her training with ballet and at ten years old added several other styles such as lyrical, jazz, contemporary & hip hop. After moving to California in 2020, Ahava joined Trillium Dance Studios! She has loved every minute, and hopes to continue dancing in her future as a teacher and a student.

Mia Nannizzi

Mia has been dancing at Trillium since she was four years old. Her favorite styles of dance are ballet, contemporary, and pointe. She had been a teacher for one year and plans to continue teaching in college! Dance has always been a part of her life since she can remember and it brings her endless joy. Mia has made many of her closest friends through dance and has learned so much from the guidance of her amazing teachers. Mia will be attending Cal Poly Humboldt in the fall as an Education Major. She can’t wait to continue dancing in college and inspire a new generation of dancers!

Grace Price

Grace’s love of dance began where she grew up in San Diego. As a young adult she trained with Alonzo King Lines Ballet in San Francisco before graduating from Humboldt State University with a degree in Kinesiology in 2021. Grace previously taught at Trillium and is so happy to be back dancing with everyone! Grace is a lover of sewing, reading, hiking, and enjoying quality time with her loved ones and kitty Momo. This year she is going back to school for her elementary education teaching credential and is excited to share her love of learning with the community. 

Amara Rex

Amara Rex has been dancing with Trillium for more than ten years now. Her favorite forms of dance are jazz, ballet, and contemporary. She is attending Cal Poly Humboldt with a major in psychology and a minor in dance and early childhood development. She hopes to work with children in the future to help them express themselves both emotionally and creatively. Amara plans to stay with Trillium and is incredibly honored to be apart of Ensemble.

Chloe Schmidt

As a Humboldt County local, Chloe Schmidt began dancing at a young age in Southern Humboldt, and found her home at Trillium Dance at the age of 12. She has since been trained in ballet, contemporary, and jazz under many great teachers and programs including a Summer Intensive with the Joffrey Ballet Academy. Chloe began teaching at Trillium Dance Studios in 2016 where she found her passion for fostering a love of dance in her students. This led her to continue her education of movement at Cal Poly Humboldt, where she graduated with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Dance Studies in 2022. She has gone on to study under Physical Therapist and Dance Instructor, Lisa Howell, and most recently, obtain her Pilates Teacher Certification.

Kendra Staton

Kendra started ballet at age 4 and had to be ushered offstage her first performance (dressed as a chicken) because she didn’t want to leave the stage. Not much has changed! She took a break from dance to birth her son Avery who is now among the tiniest dancers at Trillium. Kendra started teaching and performing with Trillium almost 20 years ago and is overjoyed to get to dance with ensemble again this year. 

Haylee Wolff

Growing up in Northern California, Haylee began dancing at three years old and trained in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Latin and Tap. She began her teaching career at Trillium Dance, teaching ballet to all ages and levels. Haylee graduated from San Jose State University with a B.F.A. in Dance, where she received training in a wide array of dance techniques, pedagogy, and choreography. She was part of the dance program’s pre-professional company, University Dance Theatre, and has had the opportunity to work with professionals such as Heather Cooper, Raphael Boumaila, Mike Esperanza, Doug Varone and Dancers, and Camille A. Brown and Dancers. Haylee is so excited to be back with her Trillium family and to share her love for dance technique!
